Cicero wildlife control tip of the month:
What should I do if I find a nest of squirrels in the attic?
The existence of the creatures in the attic has been the typical Cicero animal control problem of a lot of homeowners. Hearing them
chirp and scratch, jump and bump into the ceiling is one of the primary signs of squirrel infestation. It was
said that the squirrels live off the ground primarily in the trees, but the truth is that they never turned down
the idea that they can settle in the attic. The first thing you must do is to stop being anxious about them. Next,
you need to look for someone who can tell you how to prevent them from infesting your home. Third, learn how to eliminate
them and never drive them back.
1) Trap and remove
Every Cicero exterminator professional just knows what to do if you wish to make sure that they will leave the place without coming back again.
You can easily catch them and relocate them. You can buy a cage trap and then place them near the entry holes. Be sure that
you can place the cage against the entry point and bear in mind that they are very active at daytime and in the evening, but
they also leave their place few times daily. If you have placed the cage, there is a small chance at catching them as they come
out. You must repeat the process to make sure you have caught all of them. This is quite a slow Cicero animal trapping procedure in catching them, but
it works.
2) The use of repellents
You can use this, however, this is not guaranteed. There is no guarantee that squirrels will go away after smelling them. The
sprays will not be of help to kill them, they will just go away for a while and then will come back if the smell is gone. It doesn’t
matter what kind or brand you have, all of them promise a long lasting solution, but that is not true at all. No Cicero wildlife removal repellent can guarantee
permanent solution.
3) Come up with preventive measures
You must conduct a regular inspection around the property. Be sure that you cover the trash bins, since just like any other
wildlife animals, they also feed on human trash. They are scavengers looking for food. You must check the roof line if there
are damages made by the squirrels, after which conduct a home repair right away. If there is no access, there will be no infestation.
Seal all the holes and then do the same with the other parts of the house. You can use a hardware cloth and then staple it to the plywood
and spray with a Cicero pest control animal repellent. A heavy duty screen behind the vents can seal up the entry holes.
